We are a friendly and long established club based between Croydon and Bromley, south of London. Find out more about us
Come ride with us. A good way to get to know us is to come out on one of our weekend rides. On Saturdays we have our 'Social' ride for all abilities.
On Sundays we go a little further and a touch faster. Go to the relevant pages to view the planned club rides and meeting point.
Or meet us at our clubroom. We meet at The Blackheath Harriers Clubhouse in Hayes - see the Meetings page for more information and directions.
As a club with affiliations to various cycling organisations we have certain responsibilities for hosting races.
This is when we call on all members to play their part in some small way by either making cakes, marshalling, being mechanic, commissaire etc.
Every year our own club members organise the following -
Each racing season we run competitions for club members -
- Club 25 mile time trial championship - held during an Open 25 mile Time Trial from the London South Event list.
- Club 50 mile championship - held during an Open 50 mile Time Trial from the London South Event list.
- Club 100 mile Championship - during the Southern Counties 100 mile Open.
There are usually plenty of prizes too !
For those who don't want it to be all hard work and racing we also organise many social events for example -
Reliability Trial - In early February, as a precursor to the racing season, we organise a 60 mile 'leisure' ride.
This is open to all comers, for riders of all abilities and takes riders up over the Ashdown Forest to a welcome tent of tea and biscuits before the turn for home.
We have a reputation for putting on one of the toughest rides pre-race season. No better way to get you fit fast !
Annual Autumn Eastbourne rides.
EEvery year on the first weekend of October we organise a 3 day weekend (Friday to Sunday) ride to Eastbourne. We meet on the Friday mornings and ride the 65 miles to Eastbourne. A short ride on the Saturday and the ride home on the Sunday completes a very satisfying break. All luggage is taken down and returned by car for you.
- The Tour de France - A group of enthusiasts organise a regular trip to ride and watch mountain stages of the Tour de France in July.
- Brighton Bash - A social ride to Brighton and back in August. Two ability levels, each meeting in a cafe in Brighton for refreshments before the return home.
Annual Dinner - This event is to celebrate members’ achievements for the year by awarding club trophies and a great excuse to get together for a night out, friends and family welcome.
Club Classics Tours - This usually takes place in March/April and involves a trip to Belgium or France. We also enter a number of 2-rider teams the Duo Normand Team Time Trial in September each year.
Annual General Meetings - An opportunity for all club members to have their say and make improvements. At this annual event, we hold the election of officers. So, if you're keen to help out and make things happen in the club, here will be your chance!
