Riding with the Old Ports

There are many opportunities to train and race with club members. On becoming a member you have the following rides to choose from, depending on your standard and what your goals and ambitions are:

  • Weekend rides - We meet at the bottom of Corkscrew Hill (at the bottom of Lathams Lane), Hayes for low intensity 30 to 40 mile rides on Saturdays (10.15am start) and Sundays (9.15am start). Ideal as a pre-race leg loosener, a social ride and chat or for those who want to build up confidence and fitness. Suitable for all levels.
  • Chain Gang - We meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening outside the Swan Pub in West Wickham for 7.15pm and meet up with members from other clubs for a very high intensity burn up for 1.5 hrs. This is not recommended for beginners!
  • Races - Most weekends and during the summer there are a series of races on a Thursday night at Eastway or, to improve your sprint and speed, you could ride at Herne Hill Track on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday evening (from May onwards). Details of all of these and reminders will be sent out via the race secretary.
  • Time trials - We organise 10 mile time trials every Thursday evening (from May onwards) at Crowhurst Map
  • Summer adventure rides. Last year we rode from the Altlantic to the Mediteranean through the Pyrenees!! click here
