Open Racing Events

As a club with affiliations to various cycling organisations we have certain responsibilities for hosting events. This is when we call on all members to play their part in some small way by either making cakes, marshalling, being mechanic, commissaire etc. Every year our own club members organise the following:

  • Open 10 mile time trial
  • Open 25 mile time trial
  • Surrey League Road Race

Club Racing Events

Each racing season we run competitions for club members :-

  • Thursday evening Time trials at Crowhurst, weekly from the first Thursday in May through August
  • Club 25 mile time trial championship-held during the Southern Counties 25 mile Open
  • Club 50 mile championship- held during the Southern Counties 50 mile Open
  • Club 100 mile Championship - During the Southern Counties 100 mile Open
  • Club Track Championship-. Every year we have our own club championship at Herne Hill track. This allows members who have never raced on the track to get some experience and get a flavour for what track riding is all about. There are usually plenty of prizes too!

Social Events

For those who don't want it to be all hard work and racing we also organise the following more social events:

  • Reliability Trial - In January or February, as a precursor to the racing season, we organise a 60 mile 'leisure' ride.  This is open to allcomers, for riders of all abilities and takes riders up over the Ashdown Forest to a welcome tent of tea and biscuits before the turn for home. We have a reputation for putting on one of the toughest rides pre-race season. No better way to get you fit fast!
  • Annual Club Tour - This usually takes place in March and involves either a weekend trip away to somewhere like France or for a weekend of riding from Hayes to Eastbourne or Bournemouth and back. Details are issued a couple of months in advance.
  • The Tour de France - A group of enthusiasts organise a regular trip to ride and watch mountain stages of the Tour de France in July.
  • Brighton Bash- A social ride to Brighton and back in August. 2 ability levels. each meeting in a cafe in Brighton for refreshments before the return home.
  • Annual Dinner Dance - With our host, El Presidente, being the best compere in the World, this is a night not to be missed! This event is to celebrate achievements for the year and a great excuse to come together for a night out.
  • Roller Evening - We organise one night on the rollers to give newcomers a chance to experience what's involved and get a taste for life on rollers!
  • Annual General Meetings - Yawn...nobody likes these but this is an opportunity for all club members to have their say and make some changes. At this annual event, we have an election of officers. So, if you're keen to help out and make things happen in the club, here will be your chance to become a rep of some sort!
