Time Trial Reports and Results 2006

Crawley Wheelers Good Friday 41miles 14 April

Gary Bryant reports:

The course was not as Sporting as I expected it to be, but
still a tough, very scenic 41 mile course From Handcross looping down to
Shoreham and back.
A short 1:51 for me. I think that's about 22mph? much slower than my average for the last couple of events over significantly lumpier courses. I didn't hang around for the full results, but my time was way down on many of the finishers. Reckon I'll be lucky to have finished in the top 25!! I just didn't have the legs for that number of miles, and the wheels finally fell off completely about 2 miles from home, just before the final climb:-( Still, good training.

Redmon CC 25 Sunday 9 April

Bashers reports:

This course starts in Kingsfold on the A24, to Beare Green roundabout, left on A29 through Ockley to Clemsfold roundabout, A281 past HQ at Broadbridge Heath, then left onto A24 to Robin Hood roundabout, turn, A24 across Farthings Hill interchange straight on at Hop Oast roundabout to Southwater, turn then retrace to finish at Farthings Hill interchange.

The day was sunny but a little chilly for the early starters, with the wind picking up as the morning went on.

Chris Olgivie at one point was up as wnning the event with a long 52, however he did point out that he turned at Hop Oast roundabout and not Southwater, so unfortunatly he was officially DNF, a shame really as he was averaging 24.5mph so he would probably done a 1hr 2min.

Diplomat was later heard to mutter 'I never heard of anyone getting lost on a straight road before!'

The results :
Ian Bashford
59min 57sec avg 25.02mph for 15th place
Barry Meens 1hr 9mins 7secs, avg 21.7mph.

The winner was Laurence Harding in a time of 53min 14sec avg 28.18mph.

Gary Bryants kicks off 2006 season in style!

Bashers reports:

Sunday 19 March: Croydon and District Hardriders

This is a course that starts between Godstone and Bletchingley. It climbs through Bletchingley over the motorway then left towards Outwood, at a T junction a left turn is taken, then it really starts to hurt, as you go very up and down to Bletchingley, two climbs and another that is annoying. This circuit is done twice finishing at the top of the last nasty climb.

Today was dry and cold with a nasty wind from the NE.
This was in your face on the nasty up and down bit.
Six OPs entered, however only four rode, Dave Osborn and Dave Hickman both DNS.
The other four were,
Gary Bryant 56min 45sec avg 22.2mph 10th
Ian Bashford 1hr 2min 50sec avg 20.05mph 25th
Chris Olgivie 1hr 5min 21sec avg 19.28mph 30th
Owen Brolly 1hr 8min 11sec avg 18.48mph 36th

That was a great ride Gary Well Done!!

The winner was Paul Mill in 51min 45sec avg 24.35mph

On the day only three stalwarts competed, Dave Osborn and Gary Bryant were DNS, obsviously poorly.
